2024 FINE Training

A letter of Acknowledgement

On behalf of the Neonatal Service and our Nurse Manager Debbie O’Donoghue, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Canterbury Neonatal Unit Trust for your overwhelming generosity. Your financial support enabled a large and diverse number of Neonatal Staff to undertake FINE Level 1 Training.

30 Neonatal Service staff ranging from Nurses, Social Workers, Developmental Physiotherapist, and Consultants undertook the training. The training involved an extensive structured online component and culminated in a face-to-face workshop in Christchurch at the Manawa Building on the 12th of August by certified FINE trainers from Australia.

The evaluation and feedback from attendees have been very positive. The training has proven invaluable and generated a lot of conversion, reflection, and consideration of our practices in the delivery of Neurodevelopmental care both at a personal and Service level.

Neurodevelopmental care is now a very integral part of neonatal care, and I am part of the team that provide staff with in house education and support on neonatal neurodevelopmental care. But what FINE offered us was an invaluable addition to what we do and that we alone could not have achieved.

We have seen FINE as having been a great educational investment and investment into the care of pépi/babies and whanau/families in Canterbury.   A structured, well researched and run international course, FINE is definitely helping to promote international best practice and standards in this area of care. FINE provided another level of education, skills and knowledge that will enhance our practice.

Our endeavor as a Neonatal Service is always to try and improve upon neurodevelopmental outcomes for pépi/babies that require our Service, along with supporting whanau/families in their NICU journey. The skills and knowledge gained through FINE education will certainly help us with this and our journey as a Neonatal Service to continually improve the provision of neonatal care.

So once again our sincere thank you to the Canterbury Neonatal Unit Trust on behalf of the Christchurch Neonatal Service, we are indebted to you.
